Florence Community Theater Alternative Series Features Local Work on Production of Starkweather

OMAHA, Neb. – January 22, 2018 – Starkweather, a true crime drama, based on the events which captured and terrified the state of Nebraska in late 1957 and early 1958 will be presented March 8-11, 2018 on the Florence Community Theatre stage. Local author – Doug Marr’s show is a riveting recount of the fear Nebraskans felt, and the trial of two teenagers accused of the worst crime in state history.

Between December 1957 and early January 1958, 19-year-old Charles Raymond Starkweather and his 14-year-old girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate engaged in a killing spree, which ended up with 11 people murdered in the states of Nebraska and Wyoming.

“This show explores the ideas of nature vs nurture in creating “bad” people”, said Molly Anderson, director – Starkweather, “It discovers the power of the media, both good and bad, by spreading the message of safety and terror. This is a very talented cast, who are charged with bringing this recounts and events to life on the stage.”

Starkweather is a FCT Studio Series Production. FCT Studio Series productions are cutting-edge dramatic productions, which seek to bring a new level of depth to the Florence Community Theater. FCT Studio Series Productions are not part of the Florentine Players’ performance catalog.
